Copper Mountain College Athletics Announces Gerardo “Jerry” Langarica-Martinez as Head Women’s Volleyball Coach
Copper Mountain College is proud to announce the hiring of Gerardo "Jerry" Langarica-Martinez as the new Head Coach of the Women's Volleyball program.
Coach Langarica-Martinez brings more than 13 years of coaching experience at the high school, club, and collegiate levels, along with a proven track record of building competitive programs and developing student-athletes both on and off the court.
A graduate of Corona High School in Corona, California, Langarica-Martinez previously served as the boys volleyball head coach at Eastvale Roosevelt High School from 2014 to 2021. During his tenure, the Mustangs achieved remarkable success, capturing multiple league championships, completing undefeated seasons, and earning Top 10 finishes in prestigious out-of-state tournaments. His athletes consistently received First Team and Second Team All-Area honors, and in 2019, he was named the The Press-Enterprise IE Varsity Regional Coach of the Year.
In addition to his success in Southern California, Langarica-Martinez played a significant role in expanding boys volleyball opportunities in Northern California. While residing in the Chico area, he volunteered to help launch the boys volleyball program at Chico High School, contributing to the reintroduction of the sport in the CIF Northern Section. His dedication helped spark growth across the region, with nearly 15 high schools now offering boys volleyball programs. During this time, he also coached the Chico State University Division I men's club team to a Top 25 national finish, while mentoring multiple All-Conference student-athletes.
Langarica-Martinez has also made a strong impact in club volleyball throughout the Inland Empire. He previously served as Technical Director for Bravo Volleyball Club and currently coaches a national team with IMUA Universal Volleyball Club. Across all levels, he has helped numerous athletes advance to collegiate volleyball programs and remains deeply committed to student-athlete success in both academics and athletics.
A firm believer in the power of perseverance, Coach Langarica-Martinez emphasizes that hard work, optimism, and seeking guidance are key ingredients in achieving goals that may once seem out of reach.
He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology from California State University, Chico and plans to pursue a Master's Degree in the near future.
Beyond the court, Langarica-Martinez is the oldest of six siblings—Sophia, Cristina, Rocio, Nacho, and Steven—and enjoys an active and adventurous lifestyle. In his free time, he can be found hiking, playing pickleball, dancing, attending concerts, traveling, enjoying late nights at the beach, singing karaoke, and spending quality time with friends and family. He is also an avid home cook currently working to perfect his Chicken Adobo recipe. He shares his home with his 18-year-old Chihuahua–Weiner Terrier mix, Choche Man.
"I am incredibly excited and grateful to join the Copper Mountain College family," said Langarica-Martinez. "I've already felt the warmth of this welcoming community, and I look forward to building a program that our campus can be proud of."
Copper Mountain College Athletics is excited to welcome Coach Langarica-Martinez and looks forward to the energy, leadership, and vision he will bring to the Women's Volleyball program.
