Copper Mountain Women Continue Conference Dominance with 115–35 Win Over Barstow
The Copper Mountain College Women's Basketball team showed no signs of slowing down as the Fighting Cacti rolled to a commanding 115–35 conference victory over Barstow College on Saturday. The win marked Copper Mountain's 18th of the season and further solidified their standing as one of the top teams in the region.
Ranked 17th, the Fighting Cacti came out on fire and never let up, applying relentless pressure from the opening tip. That trademark intensity forced Barstow into a flurry of turnovers, which Copper Mountain quickly converted into easy scoring opportunities in transition.
While the Cacti's pressure defense set the tone, the offense proved it is far from one-dimensional. Copper Mountain knocked down shots from all areas of the floor, including a strong performance from beyond the arc. The three-point barrage was sparked by Shi Nash, who drained the first triple of the game from the left wing, setting the rhythm early.
With contributions throughout the lineup, Copper Mountain overwhelmed the Vikings in all facets of the game, showcasing depth, balance, and an up-tempo style that has defined their conference run.
The Fighting Cacti will enjoy a bye this upcoming week before opening the second trip through conference play at home. Copper Mountain returns to action on Saturday, January 24, hosting College of the Desert at 1:00 p.m.
