11 is Heaven!! Fighting Cacti Women's Basketball continue historic run!!

The Copper Mountain College Women's Basketball team continued their historic march through the 3C2A on Saturday afternoon, powering past the El Camino Warriors 72–48 to extend their remarkable season.

The Fighting Cacti once again proved they are one of the toughest and deepest teams in the state, showcasing a balanced offensive attack with 11 different players scoring. Freshman guard Mailana Mattos led the way with 13 points, pacing a CMC squad that continues to pride itself on team-first basketball.

After a long road trip to Los Angeles, the Cacti took a few minutes to find their rhythm, closing the first quarter with a narrow 17–16 lead. But once they settled in, Copper Mountain dominated on both ends of the court. CMC outscored the Warriors 55–32 over the final three quarters, controlling the tempo and turning defensive stops into efficient transition offense.

Defense once again proved to be the cornerstone of the Cacti's success. Copper Mountain's trademark pressure forced El Camino into 23 turnovers, creating momentum-shifting fast-break opportunities and helping the Cacti pull away for another decisive victory.

The Fighting Cacti now return home to the Bell Center as they prepare to take on Compton College on Wednesday, December 10 at 6:00 p.m. Fans are encouraged to come out and support the team as they look to continue their historic run on the beautiful campus of Copper Mountain College.
