6-0 & on a roll!
The Copper Mountain College Women's Basketball team remained undefeated after gutting out a hard-fought 81–75 victory over LA Harbor on Saturday night.
From tip-off to the final buzzer, the game was tightly contested. LA Harbor pushed the pace and matched CMC bucket for bucket, ultimately taking a slim lead into halftime — marking the first time this season the Fighting Cacti had trailed at the break.
Head Coach Kris Groce delivered an energetic and motivating halftime message, and the Fighting Cacti responded immediately. CMC stormed out of the locker room with renewed intensity, using their speed and relentless full-court pressure to wear down LA Harbor over the final 20 minutes.
Offensively, the Fighting Cacti were paced by Zoe Tanell, who poured in 20 points, while Gia McFadden added 15 with steady scoring throughout. However, the decisive moments belonged to Jayla Speakman, whose three crucial offensive rebounds late in the game secured extra possessions and ultimately sealed the victory for CMC.
With the win, the Fighting Cacti continue their impressive start to the season as they prepare for their next matchup against #20 Santa Babara City College on November 21st @ 1pm.
