Copper Mountain College Women’s Basketball Dominates Southwestern, 117–47 Fighting Cacti Record Largest Margin of Victory in Program History
The Copper Mountain College Women's Basketball team made history with a commanding 117–47 victory over Southwestern College, marking the largest margin of victory in program history.
The Fighting Cacti came out firing, using an aggressive full-court press that forced the Lady Jaguars into multiple early turnovers, converting them into easy transition points. Guard Zoe Tennell set the tone in the first half, showcasing her all-around game with sharp three-point shooting, relentless rebounding, and active defense.
Copper Mountain's cohesive team play led to a 56–24 halftime lead, and the energy never waned. The Fighting Cacti continued their defensive dominance in the second half, holding Southwestern to just 23 points over the final 20 minutes while keeping their offensive rhythm rolling.
It was a true team effort, with several players reaching double figures in scoring and contributions coming from every position on the floor.
Head Coach Kris Groce praised the team's effort, saying, "This was the most complete performance we've had as a group. The energy, communication, and teamwork were exactly what we've been building toward."
The Fighting Cacti will look to carry their momentum into their next matchup at Oxnard College on November 5th.
