Copper Mountain Men’s Basketball Goes 2–1 at Gregg Anderson Memorial Tournament
The Copper Mountain College Men's Basketball team put together a strong showing over the weekend, finishing 2–1 at the Gregg Anderson Memorial Tournament hosted by Antelope Valley College.
The Fighting Cacti opened the tournament with a gritty 62–58 victory over the host AVC Marauders. Depth proved to be a decisive factor, as CMC's bench erupted for 23 points while holding AVC's reserves to just 6. That spark helped the Cacti control key stretches of the game and secure their first-round win.
In the semifinal matchup, Copper Mountain went toe-to-toe with LA Harbor in an intense, back-and-forth contest. Momentum shifted when the officials issued two technical fouls and a personal foul on the same play, resulting in a six-point swing that pushed Harbor ahead. Despite fighting until the end, the Cacti were unable to overcome the deficit, falling 91–84.
Copper Mountain bounced back with resilience in the third-place game, defeating Palo Verde College to close the tournament on a high note and finish the weekend with a solid 2–1 record. Soph Amarion Wallace was named to the All-Tournament team.
The Fighting Cacti return to action on Tuesday as they travel to Santiago Canyon College. Tip-off is set for 5:00 p.m.
