Copper Mountain College Men’s Basketball Grinds Out 76–68 Win Over San Diego Mesa
The Copper Mountain College Men's Basketball team continued their strong early-season run with a hard-fought 76–68 victory over San Diego Mesa on Wednesday night. The Fighting Cacti, known for their relentless defensive pressure in their first three wins, were forced to weather an early storm from the Olympians before settling in and taking control.
SD Mesa came out firing, slicing through the Cacti defense and surging to a 14–4 lead by moving the ball with precision and pace. Copper Mountain struggled to find their rhythm early, but with four minutes remaining in the first half, CMC finally broke through, capturing their first lead of the night and carrying a 35–32 advantage into the locker room.
After the break, the Fighting Cacti flipped the script. CMC ramped up their trademark defensive intensity, forcing turnovers, pushing tempo, and creating separation on the scoreboard. The second half belonged to the Cacti, who stretched their lead to as many as 12 and maintained control the rest of the way.
Amarion Wallace once again led the charge offensively, pouring in 24 points to pace Copper Mountain. Tyrece Rose added 17 points of his own, continuing his consistent play as a key scoring option.
The Fighting Cacti return to action next Tuesday, November 25th, when they hit the road to face MiraCosta College. Tip-off against the Spartans is scheduled for 3:00 p.m
