Welcome back, Coach Johnette Brown!

Welcome back, Coach Johnette Brown, but this time as our Head Women's Basketball Coach!

Coach Brown enters her ninth year of coaching and fifth year at Copper Mountain College, bringing a passion for developing student-athletes and a deep connection to the Fighting Cacti program.

A student-athlete and honors graduate of Twentynine Palms High School (2013), Coach Brown continued her playing career at Mt. San Jacinto College, where she earned her Associate Degree in 2015 before transferring to Adams State University, where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in 2017.

Following graduation, Coach Brown returned to the High Desert while her sister, Tusia Brown, competed on the inaugural Copper Mountain College Women's Basketball team during the program's first season in 2017. She reached out the following summer about joining the coaching staff and served as an assistant coach for the women's basketball program from 2018–2021, helping lay the foundation for the program's early years.

Coach Brown later moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where she became a math, science, and writing teacher at Ocotillo Elementary School while also coaching boys' and girls' youth basketball. After returning home to Twentynine Palms in late 2025, she rejoined Copper Mountain College as an assistant coach for the men's basketball team during the 2025–2026 season. She currently serves as a middle school math and science teacher at Twentynine Palms Junior High School, continuing her commitment to educating and mentoring young people both inside and outside the classroom.

Now returning to the Fighting Cacti family as Head Women's Basketball Coach, Coach Brown brings a unique perspective as someone who has helped build this program from the beginning. Her vision centers on developing strong student-athletes, promoting academic excellence, and building meaningful relationships throughout the Morongo Basin and surrounding High Desert communities.

Success will not simply be measured by wins and losses, but by the quality of young women we develop, the relationships we build throughout our community, and the lasting legacy our players leave behind. By consistently recruiting high-character student-athletes, investing in their personal and athletic development, and holding ourselves to a high standard every day, competitive success will become the natural result of the culture we create."
